Unity Primary School — Indoor Basketball Court Audio Upgrade

Energycon Engineering upgraded the sound system at Unity Primary School’s indoor basketball court, replacing an outdated, muffled setup with a crystal-clear, plug-and-play system that staff and students use for assemblies and sporting events — no AV technician required.

The challenge

An indoor basketball court is one of the hardest school venues for speech: hard floors, hard walls and a high ceiling reflect sound in every direction, and the old system had degraded to the point where announcements came through muffled.

Just as important, the daily users are teachers — not AV operators. Whatever replaced the old system had to be genuinely plug-and-play: switch on, pick up the microphone, and be heard clearly at the back of the court.

The system we installed

How it was engineered

Wall-mounted 12-inch passive Yamaha loudspeakers are aimed at the seating and assembly areas rather than firing across the reflective court, driven by a commercial power amplifier with the headroom to stay clean at assembly volume.

The control chain was deliberately kept analogue and minimal — a compact mixer with the Samson dual wireless receiver — so there is nothing to configure and nothing to get wrong before flag-raising on a Monday morning.
