Spice Mahal — Four-Zone Fine-Dining Audio System
Fine-dining restaurant, Beach Road — 4 independent audio zones · Completed November 2025 · Singapore
At Spice Mahal, a fine-dining destination on Beach Road, Singapore, Energycon Engineering delivered a comprehensive four-zone audio installation — Bose Professional loudspeakers powered by a Powersoft Mezzo platform — giving the restaurant one-touch control over the ambience of every zone. The project was covered by ProAVL Asia.
The challenge
A fine-dining room lives or dies on atmosphere. As a newly established venue, Spice Mahal needed a complete, end-to-end audio infrastructure designed from a blank canvas: different areas of the restaurant carrying independent music and volume — without a rack of processors, and without requiring anyone technical on shift to operate it.
The brief called for big-system behaviour — true zoning, matrixed sources, scheduled ambience — delivered at a footprint and complexity appropriate for a single restaurant.
The system we installed
| Role | Equipment |
|---|---|
| Amplifier platform | Powersoft Mezzo 604 A |
| Zone control | Powersoft WM Touch 4.3" wall-mounted touchscreen |
| Satellite loudspeakers | 8 × Bose Professional FreeSpace FS3 satellites |
| Subwoofers | 2 × Bose Professional FreeSpace FS3 surface subwoofers |
| Ceiling loudspeakers | 6 × Bose Professional FS2CE |
How it was engineered
The four-zone layout runs entirely on the Powersoft Mezzo 604 A’s internal matrix and Dynamic Music Distribution — no external processors at all. That is the design decision that keeps a genuinely zoned system inside a restaurant-sized rack space and budget.
Eight Bose FreeSpace FS3 satellites with two FS3 surface subwoofers carry the dining areas, while six FS2CE ceiling speakers fill the remaining zones — warm, even background music at conversation-friendly level everywhere in the room.
A WM Touch 4.3-inch wall-mounted touchscreen is the entire user interface: hosts and managers adjust each zone’s ambience with one touch, with no technical training and no equipment rack to open.
Independent, one-touch ambience control across all four zones — proof that a single restaurant can run big-system features like DMD and touchscreen control without big-system complexity.
